Anyone who has experienced any or all of the following:
- Coercive control (a pattern of intimidation, degradation, isolation and control with the use or threat of physical or sexual violence)
- Psychological and/or emotional abuse
- Physical or sexual abuse
- Financial abuse
- Harassment and stalking
- Online or digital abuse
- Parental alienation
It is often very hard to come to terms with the harm inflicted within the home or by relationships with those we love. It can also be harder to overcome the fear and shame associated with this. Our therapists are experienced in helping to talk through these concerns and feelings and to empower survivors of domestic abuse to recover emotionally and go forward in their lives.
We usually see people once they have left the abusive situation they are in, but some people may feel they want emotional support in order to leave. It is important no one is put at risk in this scenario. Therefore, before an offer of therapy is made to someone in such a situation, during the telephone assessment conducted with all perspective service users, further questions will be asked to ascertain whether our service is the appropriate one to access or whether they need to be signposted to an alternative one than can offer the level of security required.
