Who is our children's service for?

Play therapy is available for children aged 4 to 12 years. We offer support on issues such as parental separation/divorce, relationships, anxiety, sadness, self-esteem, self-confidence, bullying, school, eating disorders, self-harm, abuse, loss and many other concerns that affect children in today’s society.

We also offer therapy to the parents/carers of children attending the service, although we do not offer parenting advice we are able to listen and offer support in a time of need.

            What is therapy?

Our children's service offers play therapy for up to one year. We have a purpose designed therapy centre which has 3 dedicated playrooms that are fully equipped for our children and young people to use in order to explore their difficult feelings. Play is a natural form of communication, and we find that as a child plays in the session the issues that are causing them distress emerge and can then be worked with. Our therapists facilitate play, which provides children with a safe space to learn and feel self-confident and this in turn limits their problem behaviours and taps into their potential. They also learn to express and communicate feelings in a creative rather than destructive way.
