Domestic Abuse Counselling Service

Who is our domestic violence counselling for?

Anyone who has experienced any form of physical, sexual, emotional, verbal or financial abuse.

It is often very hard to come to terms with the harm inflicted by abuse within the home and can be even harder to overcome the fear and shame associated with this. Our counsellors are experienced in helping to talk through these concerns and feelings.

Counselling can help make sense of what has happened and support you in finding new ways of living and making healthy choices for the future.

We also offer support to other members of the family via this service.

Can I have counselling if I am still with my abusing partner?

We usually see people when they have left the abusive situation but some people may feel they want help to be able to leave. We are able to offer counselling to you in this situation if it is safe for the person to attend and we will discuss this with you when you first contact us.

Can I attend counselling with my child or children?

We will see parents and children separately, but the parent/carer is asked to meet with the child’s counsellor at the beginning of the counselling and at intervals throughout. Each piece of work is tailored to the individual and it can sometimes be helpful to have a joint session. This will be discussed with you and your child at the beginning and during the counselling.
