Who is our bereavement counselling service for?

We provide counselling and support for women, partners and couples who have lost a pregnancy baby or child in any situation. This may be through miscarriage, abortion or termination for abnormality, stillbirth or neonatal death. The loss may be of an older or adult child.

Parents, siblings, grandparents and other family members are welcome to contact us and we offer a safe place to come and talk in private about the loss of your child and your situation. We see people from all over North London, Hertfordshire, Middlesex and other surrounding boroughs, including Barnet, Finchley, Harrow, Enfield, St Albans and Welwyn Garden City.

At present the BIG Lottery helps to fund our bereavement counselling service.

How can counselling help?

Counselling can help you come to terms with the devastating feelings that can follow these losses. These feelings may persist or surface many years after your loss. Rephael House has trained counsellors who can support you throughout this difficult time and give you a weekly session, usually lasting 50 minutes, so that you can talk about all the issues surrounding your loss and your own personal circumstances.

How many sessions can I have?

We offer an initial session so that you and the counsellor can discuss your situation and decide together whether counselling will be of help to you. We do not believe counselling is a quick fix solution, and grief has its own path and pattern for each individual. However some people may want only a few sessions while others may continue to come for up to three years depending on their own individual needs. Once a counselling space is allocated to you, it is yours for as long as you need it up to the three year limit.

How do I get to see a counsellor?

If you wish to contact us please fill in the form on the Contact us page of this site or ring us on 020 8440 9144 or text your name and number to 07922 141 392.

You can also attend our drop-in service on a Monday afternoon between 2pm and 5pm (not on bank holidays). A session at drop-in last 30 minutes and we ask you to pay a £5 fee for this service.
