Rephael House is an independent charity committed to serving people living, working or receiving education in the borough of Barnet, North London (including Camden, Harringey, Harrow and Middlesex) and Hertfordshire and Essex. Rephael House provides a confidential environment and aims to create supportive client relationships, enabling clients to work towards living in more satisfying and resourceful ways.

Our mission:

“Helping people to become emotionally healthy individuals and families through the provision of excellent counselling services”

Rephael House opened in 1997 and since that time has grown considerably. We see over 50 clients weekly and for up to three years. Our bereavement counselling service for those who have lost a baby, pregnancy or child is unique in the South East of England in that we have many years specialising in this field and work region wide across North London and several counties.

Our Board of Directors meets at least four times a year and has an annual planning day to discuss and plan the strategic direction of Rephael House, and review service user feedback and service outcomes.

We conduct an annual service review and the latest report can be seen here.

The staff of Rephael House is made up of the director of services, the centre manager, the coordinator and two part-time counsellors. Sessional counsellors and counselling students on their final years of advanced diploma training make up the rest of the team at Rephael House.

As an organisational member of BACP we are bound by its Ethical Framework for Good Practice in Counselling and Psychotherapy and subject to the Professional Conduct Procedure therein.

All counsellors are trained to at least advanced diploma level or are in training and have regular supervision. The qualified counsellors are either accredited with BACP or UKCP or are working towards accreditation.

We are also members of CommUNITY Barnet and Youth Access.
